At Oxford Greens Early Education Centre,we have thoughtfully crafted the 0 - 2 Seedlings Room to align with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).Where we emphasize is how important is it to nurture the young learners in a responsive environment. The designed space is based on a keen understanding of developmental milestones where infants and toddlers are allowed to explore, play and grow in our safe and engaging setting. A calming atmosphere promoting emotional security and well-being is promoted by the soft, natural and comfortable furnishings. These are the foundational elements as focused by EYLF to create a sense of belonging.
In this room, the educators make use of a play-based approach to learning. The purpose is to help the children gain a range of sensory and tactile experiences catering to the developmental stages of children aged0 - 2 years. Our educators carefully select the materials and activities to stimulate curiosity and support cognitive development, like interactive toys, textured surfaces and musical instruments. Children gain these experiences to explore their environment. Their emerging skills are fostered aligning with EYLF outcomes.
Responsive caregiving has always been and will always be at the heart of the 0 - 2 Seedlings Room . Here with each child, our educators build up strong and trusting relationships. Caregivers observe and interpret the infant&rsquos and toddlers’ ccues and needs to provide individualized support promoting secure attachments and emotional development. Through this approach, we acknowledge and nurture the unique needs and interests of each child. It helps in facilitating a sense of confidence and self-awareness.
Additionally, the Seedlings Room has integrated the routines and interactions supporting the social skills development and emotional regulation. Group activities, such as storytime and gentle group play have been designed for introducing the concepts of sharing, turn-taking and communication. Using these interactions, the children start understanding the role they have in a community and develop foundational social skills essential for future learning.
On the whole, the 0-2 Seedlings Room at Oxford Greens Early Education Centre has committed itself to fostering a holistic approach towards early childhood education. Being in alignment with the EYLF requirements, the room ensures each child is having enriching and supportive experiences, that create a strong foundation for their continual growth and development.
